Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using the FFmpegLab platform.

Effective date: August 20, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using FFmpegLab, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the service. These terms apply to all users of the platform, including those who use the cloud-hosted version and those who self-host.

2. Description of Service

FFmpegLab is an API-native media engineering IDE that allows users to:

  • Query media catalogs using SQL.
  • Define rendering pipelines and filter graphs using YAML.
  • Orchestrate renders and batch jobs using Bash and our SDKs.
  • Collaborate in real-time on video projects with team members.
  • Self-host the entire platform on their own infrastructure.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" for your use, subject to these terms.

3. User Accounts

To use certain features of our service, you may be required to create an account. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security and confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • All activities that occur under your account.
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. User Content & Intellectual Property

Users retain ownership of their content — including media files, project data, render configurations, and filter graphs. By uploading or creating content on FFmpegLab, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and process your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving our service. This license terminates when you delete your content or account.

You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to upload and process your content through our service, and that your content does not infringe on the rights of any third party.

5. Content Guidelines

Users are responsible for the content they upload, process, or share through FFmpegLab. Prohibited content includes, but is not limited to:

  • Illegal content or content that violates applicable laws.
  • Copyrighted material without proper authorization.
  • Sexually explicit or pornographic content.
  • Hate speech, harassment, or discriminatory content.
  • Violent, graphic, or harmful content.
  • Spam, malware, or misleading content.

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these guidelines and to suspend or terminate accounts of repeat offenders.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the service.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service, other accounts, or systems.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers or networks connected to the service.
  • Use the service to distribute malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the FFmpegLab software, except as permitted by applicable law.

7. Self-Hosting & Open Source

FFmpegLab is open source software. You are permitted to self-host the platform on your own infrastructure, subject to the terms of our open source license. When you self-host, you are solely responsible for the security, maintenance, and operation of your instance. We do not have access to your self-hosted data or infrastructure.

You may modify the open source code for your own use, provided you comply with the terms of the applicable open source license. Redistribution or commercial use of modified versions may be subject to additional restrictions.

8. Third-Party Integrations

FFmpegLab integrates with third-party services such as Supabase, PostgreSQL, and S3-compatible storage. Your use of these integrations is subject to the terms and conditions of those respective services. We are not responsible for the availability, security, or functionality of third-party services.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FFmpegLab and its contributors are not responsible for any losses or damages resulting from your use of our service, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of data or project files due to user error, system failure, or service interruption.
  • Loss of revenue, profits, or business opportunities.
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to your account or data.
  • Technical issues, downtime, or performance problems of the platform.
  • Any actions taken by third parties using your account.

In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid us, if any, for accessing our service during the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR COURSE OF PERFORMANCE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless FFmpegLab and its contributors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of any intellectual property or other rights of any third party.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease. If you wish to terminate your account, you may do so by contacting us or through the account settings.

13. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the service with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the service.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Georgia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these terms or the service shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Georgia.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update or change our Terms of Service at any time. We will provide notice of any significant changes by posting the new Terms of Service on this page and updating the "effective date" at the top. Your continued use of the service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
